["The Dreaming" vol. 1 by Queenie Chan via Tokyopop]
Just felt like randomly posting stuff after last night’s ‘manga marathon’ of sorts. I’ve been reading lots of supernatural manga/manhwa lately (what a surprise, eh?), and I have to say that it didn’t disappoint. I was especially pleased by The Tarot Café, The Dreaming and Bizenghast, with their well-structured plots (especially “The Dreaming”) and absoluetely amazing art. And for some reason, they made me think back to one of my other favourite mangas, K no Souretsu/Funeral Procession of K, which, though it doesn’t feature superanatural threads, is very… well, mesmerizing in a Kafka-esque sort of way – no one really is who they seem to be, and certain things just have no logical explanation, like a world and circumstances that you don’t question, because you know there’s no answer/reason to them. Well worth reading this manga, trust me.

Which (in the weird way my thoughts are linked) leads to another interesting piece by artist Bory Hem. It’s a short (sample) comic called “Blanche” (it’s in French), which is a rewriting of the “Snow White” fairytale and can be found here. This isn’t about the supernatural either, it’s just beautifully drawn and touching.
