Hush/ Day 13

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt suggests that we simply –

relax. Your prompt for today is simply to take a walk. Make notes — mental or otherwise — on what you see on your walk, and incorporate these notes into your poem.

My whole day actually included a series of long walks (in intermittent rain), so I suppose the following (rather surreal) poem is the product of everything my subconscious managed to accumulate.

Hush

The tips of heaven – extra dry
No trespassing in the courtroom
Of theatre, we are all blank
With recognition of each other’s
Sins, relieved to have been
Overlooked by death. This is
All perpetual confinement.
In distancing ourselves from
The screech of the playground
We became the silent interlude
Between one simmering ambition
And the next. The church bells –
Hung from the neck of determination.

  1. Perhaps go through this and look at where you have put capital letters. I really liked the poem, removing the upper case letters from the start of some of the lines may help with the flow.
